Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has been banned for four matches after his appeal against a violent conduct charge was dismissed. There were suggestions that he had denied it so that he could play against Manchester City in Wednesday’s Carling Cup clash.
If he’d admitted it then he would have only been banned for three matches – surely this would have been more beneficial for the Red Devils?
